On grading Glenrothes were stronger on all but the bottom board, looking good to avenge their 2004 defeat in the final of the same competition.
Simon and Douglas had good solid draws.
The remaining boards were very hard fought affairs but Glenrothes proving too strong in the end.
Congratulations to Glenrothes on a well deserved victory.

| Douglas Heatlie (1539) | 1 | - | 0 | Robert C Sim (1326) |
We were again seeded straight to the semi final due to lack of entries.
On grading Dumfries were stronger on the top 3 boards with Civil Service having the edge on the bottom 3 boards. Rudolph's game was the first to finish after about an hour when he trapped his opponents queen to leave a winning advantage.
Douglas converted his extra pawns efficiently into a won king and pawn ending. David accepted his opponents piece sacrifice and repelled the resulting king side attack to finally trap the queen forcing a resignation.
Already 0 - 3 behind, Dumfries were forced to play for wins on the remaining 3 boards and as a result lost two which should probably have been draws.
